Important: Account Deletion is Permanent
Once your account is deleted, this action cannot be undone. We will delete your account and associated personal data from our systems, subject to limited retention described below (for example, legal and security requirements).
What Gets Deleted
When you delete your account, the following information will be permanently removed from our systems:
- Your profile information (name, bio, photos, username)
- Your language settings and preferences
- All posts and comments you've created
- Your community memberships and activity
- Your following/follower relationships
- Messages you've sent in voice room chats
- Your voice room history and participation data
- Any blocked user lists
- Notification preferences and settings
- Authentication credentials
What May Be Retained
Some information may be retained for legal, security, or operational reasons:
- Security Logs: Retained for a limited period (up to 90 days) for fraud prevention and security
- Legal Compliance: Data required to be retained by law or to respond to legal requests
- Anonymized Data: Aggregated, anonymized data that cannot identify you
How to Delete Your Account
Option 1: Delete from the App (Recommended)
- Open the Language Cafe app on your device
- Go to your Profile tab (bottom right)
- Tap the Settings icon (gear icon in top right)
- Scroll to Account Actions and tap Delete Account
- Verify your identity (password, Google sign-in, or SMS code depending on your sign-in method)
- Type DELETE to confirm
- Tap Delete My Account Forever
Option 2: Submit a Deletion Request
If you cannot access your account or prefer to request deletion through our website, please use the form below or email us directly.

We will process your request within 7 business days and send a confirmation to your email address. We may contact you to verify your identity before processing the deletion.
Option 3: Email Request
You can also email us directly to request account deletion:
- Send an email to account@languagescafe.com
- Use the subject line: "Account Deletion Request"
- Include the email address or phone number associated with your account
- We may ask you to verify your identity before processing the request
Timeline for Deletion
After you confirm account deletion:
- Immediately: Your account will be deactivated and you will be logged out
- Within 24 hours: Your profile will no longer be visible to other users
- Within 30 days: All your personal data will be permanently deleted from our active systems
- Within 90 days: Data will be removed from our backup systems
Before You Go
Before deleting your account, you may want to consider these alternatives:
Take a Break
You can simply log out of the app and take a break without deleting your account. Your data and connections will be preserved for when you're ready to return.
Adjust Your Settings
If you're leaving due to notifications or privacy concerns, you can:
- Disable push notifications in your device settings
- Adjust notification preferences in the app
- Block specific users who are bothering you
Export Your Data
Before deleting your account, you may want to request a copy of your data. Contact support@languagescafe.com to request a data export.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I reactivate my account after deletion?
No. Account deletion is permanent. If you want to use Language Cafe again after deleting your account, you will need to create a new account from scratch.
Can I use the same email/phone for a new account?
Yes. After your account is fully deleted (within 30 days), you can use the same email address or phone number to create a new account.
What happens to communities I created?
Communities are shared spaces. If you are an admin of a community, we recommend promoting another trusted member to admin before deleting your account so the community can continue smoothly.
Will my messages be deleted from other users' chats?
Your messages in voice room chats will be removed from our servers. Your username and profile information will no longer be associated with any remaining references.
How do I know my data has been deleted?
After you delete your account in the app, you will be signed out immediately. If you submit a deletion request by email or through the form above, our support team may follow up to verify your identity and confirm completion.
