You can delete your account whenever you’d like.

The fastest path is from inside the app. It re-verifies you and starts deletion right away. If you can’t sign in, we can help by email.

Fastest route

Profile → Account settings → Delete Account

The app walks you through re-authentication and a final typed confirmation before anything is deleted.

Security check

We verify it’s really you.

You re-authenticate with the sign-in method linked to your account — your password, a Google or Apple prompt, or an SMS code.

Heads up

Deletion is permanent.

You can’t recover the account or its saved words, history, or content once deletion completes.

Before

Before you start

Account deletion is permanent. Make sure you don't need anything tied to the account before you confirm.

  • Use Download your data in the app first if you want a copy of anything — there's no way to export after deletion.
  • Check you can still sign in to the account you want to delete.
  • Know which sign-in method (password, Google, Apple, or phone) is attached — you'll re-verify with it.
  • If your account is part of an open safety review, some records may be held.

Premium subscriber? Deleting your account does not cancel a Google Play subscription. Cancel it in Google Play (or the App Store, if you subscribed there) so you aren't billed again.

In-app steps

This is the smoothest path. The app confirms intent, re-verifies you, and starts deletion in one flow.

  1. Open the app. Go to Profile → Account settings → Delete Account.
  2. Verify it’s you. Re-authenticate with your linked sign-in method — your password, a Google or Apple prompt, or an SMS code.
  3. Read the warning. The app shows: “This will permanently delete your account and all associated data. This action cannot be undone.”
  4. Type DELETE in capital letters. The typed confirmation is required before the final button unlocks.
  5. Tap “Delete My Account Forever”. You are signed out and removal of your data begins right away.

Fallback

If you can’t sign in

Send us an email from the address connected to the account when you can — it speeds up verification.

  • Use the subject line “Account Deletion Request”.
  • Email account@languagescafe.com with the account email or username.
  • We may ask for more details to confirm ownership safely.

Removed

What gets removed

Confirming deletion permanently removes all of the following.

  • Profile & personal info — your profile, username, settings, and preferences
  • All posts and comments — everything you've shared in the feed and communities
  • All messages and conversations — your inbox and chat history
  • Sign-in access and the credentials tied to the account
  • Account-linked learning data such as saved words and reading history

Limits

What may stick around briefly

Deleting your account signs you out and starts removal of data associated with your account. Some records may be retained or de-identified when required for security, legal, or operational reasons.

  • Shared content or conversations that involve other users
  • Support tickets, reports, and moderation records
  • Records we have to keep for legal, fraud, or dispute reasons
  • Backups that cycle out on their own schedule

We remove or disassociate active data first and only keep limited records when there's an operational, legal, or safety reason.

Timing

Timeline

Exact timing varies, but here's what to expect.

  • Deletion starts as soon as you confirm in-app or we verify your email request.
  • You are signed out and lose access to the account right away.
  • Active-system cleanup usually finishes within 30 days.
  • Backup and residual cleanup can take a bit longer.
